Chéri
Cherin studied at the Academie des Beaux Arts in Kinshasa
under the Austrian ceramics-artist Peter Weihs.
In
the early days, Cherin used to create murals for the
walls of bars, barbershops and small boutiques in
Kinshasa. These panels contained impressive pictures
of daily life but also some very serious contents
that reflected the artist's view on congolese society's
main concerns.
Today
Chéri Cherin is one of the best known painters
in Kinshasa and passes his knowledge as a teacher
to many young talented artists.
