LucFosther
Diop was born in Douala, Cameroon in 1980.
In
2003 LucFosther graduated in Fine Arts from the University
of Yaoundé 1 , Cameroon.
That same year he attended an influential artist residency
at Art Bakery (founded by cameronese artist Goddy
Leye).
In
2006 LucFosther Diop moved to Douala and started travelling
with a group of seven artists. This project was called
EXITOUR, and consisted of travelling through seven
west African countries. It eventually led to the Dakart
Biennale 2006.
In 2009 LucFosther entered a residency at the Rijksakademie
van Beeldende Kunsten in Amsterdam where he currently
lives and works.
His
work is based on drawing, painting, sculpture, installation,
performance, photography and video.
One
of his videos, Around and Around was recently
showing at the Forms and topographies : African
Cityscape in flux project, curated by Dominique
Fontaine at the 2nd Thessaloniki Biennale of Contemporary
Art in Greece.
