Leading
name of a new generation of senegalese artists, Soly
Cissé (b. 1969, Dakar) presents his first solo
show at INFLUX CONTEMPORARY ART, in Lisbon. The show
features thirty
pieces in various media, from the 2008 to 2010 period,
and illustrates the recent trajectory of this multi-talented
artist, confessed admirer of Bacon and Basquiat.
Soly
Cissé 's 'bestiary' is composed of organic
forms, metamorphic creatures and dysfunctional worlds.
His art is universal, not getting trapped in 'origin
certificates' or geographies. Cissé 's work's
aggressiveness reflects the aggressiveness of our
time: the violence and the lack of compassion.
